C1V - CEE ONE VEE

Happy 35th Anniversary Civilization 1!

A turn-based civilization style game built for the Game Boy Advance.

This is my attempt to bring a historical style gaming experience from 1991 into both 2001 and 2026. The main goal being a fully playable, working GBA port with scored music.

All menus and screens have been designed from scratch to fit the 240x160 screen,  and then allowances have been made for different aspect ratios and slightly larger screens in the SDL3 build, but everything is still rooted in that 240x160 and judicious use of micro fonts. Everything has been designed D-pad first for optimal navigation and then mouse control was added as an extra for desktop/web.

FUTURE PLANS

The next big thing I'm working on is multiplayer support. First on the GBA ROM and then overall on the SDL builds. Absolute stretch goal would be some kind of cross-play between the GBA and the desktop, or at the very least emulators and the desktop. Also, a Steam release for native desktop (and Steam Deck) play.
